How to deal with Fear of Failure

How can someone from finding reasons not to follow their dream shift to structured thinking and excitement of the future, within one hour?

Overcoming fear of failure, at times, seems to be impossible to do on our own. Creating self-awareness and verbalising our thoughts and feelings, can help us to process and understand what principles our behaviour is based on. Quite often, we find that those internal blocks we are experiencing, stem from internal beliefs that have been established in the past and are not serving us in the present.

When thinking of making a bold move, we all have a tendency to hide behind rational reasons instead of making a commitment to step into our true calling. Rational thinking is valued much higher in our society than following our intuition. None of us have learned at school how to trust our gut feeling, have we?

So, every time we think of this big step, we quickly get overwhelmed by fear of not being good enough or prepared enough to keep us in a seemingly ‘safe space’. It’s the space we know. Even if we don't experience true fulfilment in that space, we hold on to what we know.

This fear of growth is located in the oldest part of our brain, the so-called reptilian brain, which is trying to ensure our safety by keeping us in a familiar state. Changing our situation requires us to step into new territory. It takes courage to leave familiar routines behind. However, the rewards of facing our fears are huge and often life- changing. When we are honest with ourselves, following our true calling, we create the opportunity for meaning and purpose, for freedom and wealth, for love and acceptance beyond our imagination.

To overcome our internal fears, it helps to define what failure means to you. Clearly state what would have happen, for you to ‘decide’ you have failed. Is it the loss of money, partner, love, status? Then remind yourself: Failure is merely the decision to stop trying.

When we know, our reward will be greater than our fear, we must take action to overcome any self-doubt and empower ourselves. We must work on our mindset and improve every day, in order to allow ourselves to grow and achieve those great things. To become the person we were put on this earth to be, we must follow our intuition and prove to ourselves every day that what we are wanting and feeling is ‘right’. When you decide to work on your mindset, you will see obstacles disappear in front of your eyes. Change your mindset, change your life.

Acknowledge & Verbalise.

Be curious.

Reality check. To overcome our internal fears, it helps to define what failure means to you. Clearly state what would have happen, for you to ‘decide’ you have failed. Is it the loss of money, partner, love, status? Then remind yourself: Failure is merely the decision to stop trying.

Move forward by training your intuition.

When you decide to face your fears and acknowledge your intuition, magic happens. As you carry all the answers you need within yourself already.

Change your mindset, change your life.
